Age Grading & Combined Event Scoring

Age Grading is an adjustment for a performance (time, height or distance) based on age – the older you are, the bigger the adjustment. The adjustment, known as an Age Grade Factor, is multiplied by the performance to get an Age Graded Performance so all times, heights or distances for each event by athletes from 20 to over 100 years old can be compared to each other! The Age Graded Performance is the equivalent to what the athlete would have done when they were in their 20s.

Meet the Athletes

I am mainly a thrower. I throw Shot, Discus and Javelin. I am just learning the Hammer Throw and Weight Throw. I used to do many events in high school including LJ, TJ, 200m, 300 hurdles, and 110 hurdles. I was a specialist in College for Javelin and made all New England twice.

A few years ago I started working at a Dept. of Defense High School in Brussels Belgium. I also started I coaching throws and hurdles. That got me started and I wanted to compete again. I joined a club in Brussels (CSF) a few years ago and started throwing.

I am back in the USA now and coaching Throws at Laguna Beach High School. I am also training hard for next season`s throws.
