I am interested.
Hi, I am from South Africa, We would like to enter but unfortunately, we are still in a hard lockdown and sporting events and the opening of sports will certainly not be before July 26 2020
All the best with the organising.
Im interesting
Hola soy de Mexico quiera participar
Hermann. Sorry for the delay in responding. If you see the rules now, we are encouraging participation in this event at safe locations that may not be in a stadium. The results will be categorized into three groups which I will post below.
If you think there is an option to compete, at any level, we would love your involvement. Also, special population participants would be warmly welcomed as well.
In the rules section, we have indicated that competitions will be in three categories. I have posted these below. We obviously prefer a competitor to compete in a normal track and field event under all the rules. This situation will not be possible for athletes in all locations. Participation is key given the world wide difficulties this year. The result category will be flagged into the categories below. An athlete, is only able to participate per the example given is welcome, but will be in a different category to other athletes.
1) Pre-organized competitions run by organizations at an athletics facility like a track, designated jumping / throwing field or arena or gym.
2)Officiated competitions at an athletics facility. As described above, officials can be friends or fellow competitors timing, marking, measuring and calling fouls.
3) Road, parking lot, field or wherever else the athlete can compete safely.
Im in
Also interested but from 🇿🇦 South Africa 🏃♀️
Herman, what events do you do? I’m from South Africa and I will certainly be able to do the race walking events. I’m sure there must be something you can do to participate. We’ve moved to level 3 Lockdown which isn’t as stringent as level 4 was.
Hi Hermann
It appears as if we might be able to compete, considering the Group C category. I’m very keen to participate.
Must just find out how it’s done.
All the best.
Great idea! Am forwarding to all of my Masters friends
Tenho interesse. Jos Mesquita de So Paulo Brasil.
Muy interesante.
I’m interested and have shared this on the Women’s Masters Pole Vault page on Facebook. This is exciting! 🙂
Thanks for sharing!
I’m In. Good Luck!
Hi Howard! Ill see if some officials nearby can help me do this.
👍 Sportivement. Tony Gentile 😉
Sounds great!
Thanks!
Count me in!
I’m ready: my pit and runway are set up, and I now get to jump about every 10 days …. this will get great!
Great idea!!!
Sounds GOOD !! 👍
Maybe me (billy potter) rod speidel and rick Nelson could come and compete at your place? Even though u will beat all of us. I’ll have everyone sign a waiver but all of us consider you a friend and are old school christ followers.
that might be possible . . . .
Sounds good to me lets do it
Will there be any type of track events being included in this?
There are others working on a virtual running event. We may expand to running events, so please watch this space for updates.
Estara interesada
Sounds great, is there a plan for track distances to be added to the event line up?
A great system for Virtual Racing has been developed by Open Track – https://opentrack.run/
Look forward to see further developments!
Thanks. We are talking with running groups about the potential to add. Stay tuned.
When Gottfried told me about this event, I immediately loved it. We are trying to make it known to many Masters in Italy! It will be a healthy stimulus, based on fairness that will lead us to love Athletics even more!
Thanks Lorenzo!
Tony. We will add running events. We have to make the assumption that participants will be able perform within the general WMA rules. Some flexibility is expected with venues in some countries, but athletes should make best efforts for accuracy.
Can the Super Weight be included?
Hi Greg
I understand where you are coming from on this. The super weight is not a WMA event. Let me discuss. Watch for updates.
Greg, yes. We can add the super weight.
Excellent! Thank you Guy.
Cant wait!
Im in!!!
Sierra Gold Track Club in Grass Valley California is excited about the meet. We were already planning to hold a series of inner squad performance exhibitions over the summer with meet conditions. We have a private facility available , we also have a public facility. We did not plan of having an open meet .
Dik Hotchkiss Sierra Gold Throws Coach
Great stuff!
Dik – will this be open to outside competitors or only for your club members? MG
Many thanks for organising the virtual masters events. I really enjoyed trying my best over 4 distances but was sad that no tracks are yet open in Scotland. But well done for allowing road runs. 😀
Good idea. I’m ok
Would love to participate but we are only allowed to train atm. Would distances be valid if training were to be done under competition conditions? What official requirements would be needed?
Dorn:
We have not communicated very clearly. Yes, training done under competitive conditions would be fine. How could we have done a better job in our explanation?
(Some locations may be able to participate in normal event conditions. This event is based on alternative settings and methods of recording your performance)
Thanks Mate… I think it was me that was a little slow on the uptake 😊
Greate 👌
Great idea but unlikely to be taking part as relevant sporting events still not permitted in the UK for foreseeable future. When you said “virtual” I thought that -like numerous such events being held – we could register our solo efforts as recorded on Garmin or Strava. But this seems to expect participation in actual events.
Hi Tony:
We have not communicated very clearly. Your example, “solo efforts recorded on Garmin..” would be perfectly acceptable and represents what we view as part of the virtual nature of this event. Can you help us? What would have been a clearer way to have said what this event is all about? (Some locations may be able to participate in “normal” event conditions. This event is based on alternative settings and methods of recording your performance)
Hi Guy: Have just stumbled across your reply – hence the delay. Not much to add to the above. Something like “URL of Strava or Garmin (or equivalent) performance is acceptable but must be an uninterrupted run, no photo stops or rest stops, showing precise distance, date and time.”
Numerous virtual races are being run here smoothly and efficiently, some with performance data checking in the hands of independent third parties.
Cheers, Tony
I saw steeplechase listed…how can you run a steeple event with no water in the pit? That would be unsafe.
True, no water in the water jump is not safe. Unfortunately, not all events can be done outside a normal track with jumping, vaulting and throwing facilities. Pole vault would not be an option without a safe runway and landing area. This is not the case everywhere, however, and hopefully more facilities will open again. Events like steeplechase might be able to be contested if it can be done safely without water like having all the barriers on the track.
What awards will be given!
We are considering a certificate that can be downloaded and allow a athlete to enter their performance and position.
What a great idea! Would you consider a virtual 1600-meter Power Walk/Race Walk event from 2020 National Veteran’s Golden Age Games? We have timers, a video of the start, and pictures of finishing times for each competitor.
Bill:
Is the Nat Vets Golden Age Games in the same date range as this competition?
Guy Dirken, the Virtual Nat Vets Golden Age Games runs from June 23-29 but only events (1600m PowerWalk, Javelin, Discus, Shot Put, Waste Basketbal, and Trivia).
Thank you!
If a certified official is used at a USATF approved facility (university) what category would athletes participate under?
Rule 2. “The run can be timed with a stop watch by a friend, you do not need a certified official.” This leaves the results wide open to unlimited abuse. I only race when there is some guarantee of integrity in the results so will not participate in this.
Desmond. We understand your concern. In the rule section, we have indicated that competitions will be in three categories. I have posted these below. We obviously prefer a competitor to compete in a “normal” track and field event under all the rules. This situation will not be possible for athletes in all locations. On reflection Guy, perhaps I’m being rather too “high-handed” about this. The event is not going to be accredited for any official records purposes so there’s not much to be gained by anybody who tries to subvert your “rules”. If somebody suddenly records a time/distance way out of line with any previous performance, it would likely be noticed. Plus, as we’ve all experienced, we hardly ever produce, informally alone, the level of performance we achieve in accredited competition. If the event(s) simply provide some motivation & purpose to continue training, that alone would be a positive outcome from staging it. Maybe I’ll give it a go after all.
Question: Do the 5,000 & 10,000mts have to be on track. I don’t have access but could do either/both on road.
We will check performance validity, as best we can, using various tools and, if necessary, will be contacting the athlete. Athlete peers are often good at point out outliers as well.
You can do a 5K or 10K on the road. Performances would fall into Category C. This is not a bad thing! Just want to see as many people actively engaged as possible.
New Zealand is now out of lock down…so we will try to organise regional meets for Masters to enter. What a wonderful idea. Thank you.
Thank you. In Denmark, someone has become a lead to generate interest at the grass roots level. In their case through the club system. Perhaps if yoo can be a bit of a “cheer leader” (:-))
I think it is a great idea. I will motivate Costa Rican Master Athletes to participate.
Lauren.
Bosse Larsson. SUECIA
Love the concept and will enter a couple of middle distance track events but can it be more all encompassing.
A tad more inclusion than exclusion with ex stadia events such as a Half Marathon and Marathon We endurance runners are feeling more and more excluded
Will discuss and get back to you
Let’s do this 🥊
Thank you for adding the running events. I noted you have stated only one entry per event but Im assuming you can enter in more than one event? Thank you
We mean one event can only be done and athlete once during the date range for the event. You can do multiple events within the date range.
This is a great possibility!
I think there will be interest by athletes from Hellas and other Balkan countries.
Please, check the correct names of the Countries , where “submit results” and “I am citizen of:” .. You have “Macedonia” instead of correct “North Macedonia” , “North Korea” instead of “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” …
This may prevent certain athletes to enter.
Thank you!
My name is Lauren Retana, I am the president of the Sports Association of Athletics Master of Costa Rica (ADEMA). I am motivating Master athletes to participate in the World Master Challenge. Here in Costa Rica, due to the pandemic, all sports centers are closed, especially the tracks. Athletes ask some questions regarding the event, if you can please answer them, I will appreciate it. Here in our country they would have to measure the distance on a highway, if they can participate, because there is not other option, can they do it on a highway for 100 meters or more? Does the athlete run, take the time or make a throw or jump and take the distance, in what form and where do they send that measurement? Time is manual, right? Where do they register and how many events can we participate in? Then they report the cost of registration? Thank you very much for what you can answer me.

Lauren:
Registration information will be coming out soon and will be explained.
Results will be posted to a link on this site, specifically for this event. We will provide the link closer to the competition
There is no limit to the number of events. BUT an athlete can only do ONE event (eg 800M) once during the period. They could do a 1550, 5000 and so on; no problem
Regarding the place, like a road, please see the below.
We understand your concern. In the rule section, we have indicated that competitions will be in three categories. I have posted these below. Real Great Idea!
unfortunately during this period we have not any significant Masters Competitions, but surely, I will find possibility to run with young men in official competition.
Thanks!
I’m in and invite anyone to join me in Florida for High Jump & Pole Vault.
Fantastic Joe! You offer is very kind and valued.
Jo Phelps, for example, is a W60 high jumper in Clermont, FL. I am sure she would love to meet up and compete.
When competing in category c and finishing were do you give the results and does it have to be video taped or just compete and throw and give results. Just take the implement and how many throws do you get does it have to be in actual discus or shot put circle and use a tape measure. Il be throwing with a 16 pound shot put and 2 kg discus and using a tape measure. Does it have to be an official circle can you give me the official diameters or measurements for a discus circle or shot put circle and I can draw it out in competing in category c mens field throw events discus and shot put age 45 to 49. Get back in touch with me about this and I’ll get the implements and tape measure and compete. I have a way of video taping it as well. Thanks. Mr. Todd Everett Deacon. tedeacon@ liberty.edu or deacon2505@gmail.com 5405052528.category c official.
Estou interessada.
count me in! and I will recruit more!
I have not thrown in a couple of years due to injuries and illness. This will be a fun and easy way to start la comeback. Looking forward to participating.
This will be great! Atheletes from Norway are ready!
Thank you so much Torrey for spreading the idea of the virtual masters challenge among northern Europe. If I may help you in any way dont hesitate to call me. All the best Torrey !
The 9 Day window , July 18 thru July 26 , makes for a multi event opportunity!
How about a Mid D vs Long D Challenge
Run 3 races in 9 days total your AG Scores and Viola!
Mid D: Either 400m or 800m
Classic Everyone 1500m
Long D: Either 5000m or 10000m
We are going to extend the window from July 18 to August 2, 2020. This may help your idea.
I want to participate. I’m from Panama.
Definitely interested but organised events continue to be cancelled well into the foreseeable future. Thus it will have to be self-timed (Garmin, Strava) and trust for many of us in the UK.
Good luck!
Will do both the 5000m and 10K race walking events in Portsmouth, NH.
I have a question. In normal meets we get 3-5 throws. is that still true?
Six throws in an individual throwing event.
does each event have a closing date to submit an athlete’s performance?
Good question. No, as long as you get all the results in by the deadline that is OK. BUT, please enter your results as you finish the events so that the system does not get overloaded on the last day.
Can’t enter yet although it says open
Hi Dan:
We are still working on final touches for the software. Should be final late today.
great idea.I will try to promote it in Hellas(Greece)
i hope you will have great participation
Thank you so much Nikolaos for spreading the idea among Greece and Balkan nations – a big hug to Vassilis Manganas
Hola. Dnde se hace la inscripcin?
how detailed you have to be when submitting your performance?
I have paid 8 euros for 4 events by paypal. There is no confirmation of my entries in my email. Something went wrong??
Will look into this and get back to you.
I believe this is now resolved
It is ok now. Thank you! I will ask by email instructions how could I pay for other persons (if possible) using my own paypal account.. Some of them don’t speak english nor espanol and they don’t have paypal account..
does the athlete have to compete in there national colours ?
Strongly recommended to use you national colors. This was one of the things we thought would be a positive component since the beginning of the idea
Cool, thanks for organizing this! For category B, decathlon….. do events need to be completed in order, within two days? The rules state that “Follow WMA rules of competition where appropriate.” It’s the “where appropriate” part that I’m wondering about. Where I live, it’s legal to throw javelin in very few locations, and they most often would not overlap with the availability of a pole vault pit. Add that there’s a 90 mile drive between where I throw and where I “vault” (Snake Pit).
Understood Rick. It is certainly the preference to follow the event order and two day format. However, the category classification would allow you to deviate from the strict meet requirements. We are relying on each athlete to choose the right category. Thanks and good luck.
Got it, thanks Guy! And, while here….. let’s not miss this….. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tx_Yng8ySO0&feature=youtu.be
Buenas noches. Gracias. Goodnight. Please can you help me with the following questions. On June 1, the registration period for the global master’s challenge opened but it does not say where to send it, I asked on the page but they did not answer me. You have to pay per event, but there is no bank account to deposit or transfer. In addition, it says that only June 1 of June you could pay, very little time. The page does not always open. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you.

Guy,
Throws pentathlon is one event, is 2?
Throws pent is one event @2 Euros. Addition, individual throwing events would be a further 2 Euros per event.
You can count me in Guy, also my 2 throwing friends.
LET’S GO!!! #allin4decathlon
Shared on Australian Masters Athletics social media pages.
Thanks Donna. I have been trying to sign up for Australian Masters, but no luck yet. If you could continue to share future updates that would be great.
Boa noite!
No. We trust you to select a safe area to throw and measure as best you can. Then you submit results.
Estoy interesado ,me inscribire,saludos
Thank you!
Sounds interesting, will give it a go if Im allowed too.

Hola. Hay una fecha de cierre de inscripcin?
Hi. There is a registration closing date?
Yes, July 15, 2020.
Quite interested in the half-only problem is that I live half way up a hill-which is going to put me at a disadvantage competing against those on the flat! 🙂
Discus Throwers in high altitude, windy places and dry air have a tremendous advantage over competitors like my self that will be throwing below sea level in ole hot and humid Louisiana. Wouldn’t be surprised if some traveled to those kind of places to compete.
We can’t travel more than 5 miles at the moment so we’ll just have to grin & bear it! Some of my runs are over 1,000 ft not much flat around here! 🙂
We threw in Dunedin…towards the bottom of the South Island of New Zealand( we are not very far from the South Pole!). …. on a chilly frosty morning. Padded puffer jackets and gloves on between throws but our hands and feet got really cold! A few PB,s…and a few not so good throws.
A fun morning though for our 6 New Zealand throwers, 5 of whom travelled for this opportunity. Thanks to organisers!
You can count me in Guy, also my 2 throwing friends.
Hi
If a road race is conducted (5km/10km} on a measured and certified course with proper timing does it stiil count only as category C or could it be Category A
George. I am thinking Category B. If the event was advertised ahead of time and you meet the requirements of a normal competitive road race, that would be accepted in non-COVID times, that would be category A. The number of runners need to be more than a time trial, but certainly does not need to be a large number of participants. This is a bit out of my area of expertise, any other comments welcome.
Hi Guy,
As Tony Berry says, there are no official track events in the UK for Masters. The British Championships has been cancelled.
Can you provide clear advice to athletes as to how these Virtual times and distances should be completed? Self timed / self measured events do not stack up!!
Personally, I am using this “down-time” to rehab after injury. But those who wish to “compete” should do so under controlled conditions!
Also, the window needs to be wider!
If you extend this beyond 2 August, you will have more chance of involving more athletes. Thank you so much!
Got your message. Will get back to you shortly.
Sorry to hear about your injury and we hope that you rehab it quickly and completely.
We appreciate your concern about self-timed/self-measured events. Obviously there is room for error and even mischief. Nonetheless, the overall goals is to create an event where the most number of people can participate and enjoy the benefits of training with a goal and stacking themselves up against the competition. Because most places around the globe will not have sanctioned meets with FAT, the only effective way to stage the event is to provide for other means of competing.
As to accuracy, we are encouraging a few guidelines (not rules) that will help provide something closer to standardized timing.
For running events:
Timing would start with countdowns. So, the timer would say, “runner to your mark” and then after the runner is positioned on the blocks/line, the timer would countdown in even time: “Set, 4, 3, 2, 1.” The runner and timer would both start on “1”. The idea behind this is to have the most consistent timing as possible, especially since almost everyone is going to be hand-timing. The person with the watch will not have to guess when the gun goes off and neither will the runner. That helps minimize the normal delay under hand-timing. And, as a result, will even out the timing across all hand-timed competitors.
For measured events, we are encouraging athletes to be measured by someone else, even fellow competitors. Again, however, if that is not possible, we will rely on the competitor to be as accurate as possible.
As to honesty, we view this as similar to golf. One doesnt cheat, because one doesnt cheat and it is, after all, just a game.
Finally, the three groups of results (FAT sanctioned meets, self/other timed/measured on standard athletics facilities, and self-created facilities (e.g. measured mile on the road, backyard shot pit etc.) will be sortable by grouping so that competitors can compare their results apples to apples and overall. Our current assumption is that most athletes will be submitting under the second group, namely self-timed at a track/self-measured at regulation facilities. If we exclude that group and the creative third group, we will have minimal participation thereby losing the overall intent.
I hope to be able to participate. No opportunity to compete yet in Victoria, Australia so will delay entry till July when we should have a better idea. As a racewalker, Category C would not be satisfactory if no judging.
Great! I’m in, will arrange my own event.
Hello Guy, its been to long. Thanks for the event, looking forward to see you all again. Had a torn Labrum last Nov., started throwing again yesterday. Will see all of you in July.
Hey Don: Good to hear you are throwing again. I talked with Roland yesterday about you. See you soon
Hey Guy! Great program & I appreciate what you are trying to do here. One question though, do you have a way for us to send in video footage of what we are doing, as a way of adding some validation of our performances? Maybe video post some of the best marks & times on this site or on-line somewhere. I see USATF is doing a big youth virtual meet (which I think is super!), where they have to send in video footage, but I realize that’s probably a big budget thing and even more difficult to do world wide like your doing here. Anyway, just a thought and again grateful for the opportunity to try and keep our side of the sport going doing these trying times.
Always, Antonio C. Palacios (USA-Long & triple jumper)
Antonio
We have been trying to keep things as simple as possible given the scope of the event being world wide, with differing availability of technology in some countries. So we are not mandating video evidence for the event. But we can look into posting videos from an interest perspective. Let me discuss and get back to you in a day or so.
Hola .
Do you need to be affiliated/belong to a national/regional masters organization to be able to compete? In other words, is it in order for an individual with no affiliation to a masters body to enter?
Yes, it is OK to compete without formal affiliation.
Kia Orana from Cook Islands in Oceania region. Love the idea and opportunity for us to compete on a world stage without leaving our Covid-19 free Paradise. Am I correct to assume if an athlete lives here they qualify as representing our nation. Would that apply to persons stuck here by border restrictions or can they choose their affiliation?
Greetings Ruth! In general, I would have thought that if an athlete has competed internationally in the past that staying with the original home country would make sense.
This event is not a WMA event so affiliation to ones home nation is not critical, but for the sake of simplicity and continuity if I was in the Cook Islands, but usually competed for Britain, I would stick with Britain.
We can organize official competitions in the Czech Republic as part of the call and we will do it. Restrictions from coronavirus are minimal. Whoever signs up is everyone’s business, it can’t be controlled. All friends athletes greets and wish health Jirka Šolar
Hi Jiri
That is good news! We look forward to as many athletes from the Czech Republic as possible.
A fantastic initiative Guy. Have not trained for ages as lost motivation. Just what is needed so huge thank you to all involved. One question..if using Garmin how do I submit my time?
Best wishes
Tim
Tim:
I view your Garmin as your personal timing device. Results would have to be submitted in Category C, though.
Thanks for your interest!
Hi. In Costa Rica we are very excited to participate in the Virtual Master’s World Challenge. Athletes are preparing thoroughly although they cannot do the tests in the most optimal conditions. We have a uniform, bib, flags, video equipment and we are looking forward to it. Thank you for this opportunity.
Great ! Thank YOU for your support
Hi – Ok. I am registered for all three racewalks. I will have interested judges watching me on the track and for both road courses. They know the rules and we will be recording the cards. I am measuring the road course with the help of a local race Director and his equipment, as he has measured for USATF events. For timing, we are using stopwatch timing software as well as my “on board” Garmin. One person will be responsible for using the timing software for lap counting. Where do I submit my results? B?
Thank you.
Liz:
I think B is OK. Do you think you approximating the integrity that you would have if walking at a local, say, state or regional event?
Hi Guy –
Since I am the USATF RW Chair here, I would say – Yes. I am looking at turning my race into a training for potential association officials. Thanks!
Yes you are correct. Category C will be fine. Good luck!
Hvala … 🤗🤗🤗
I registered for the 1500 m race. Since I don’t have a stadium where I would run that race, I’m interested in whether I can run that race at 1500 m on the road or on the city streets and whether that result will be credible. I measure all my runs with a garmin watch. I wonder if the result from the garmin application and the link to that run will be credible proof that I ran that race at 1500 m … Can such a run result count in the C category for this virtual competition
Yes, it will count.
This should be fun – thanks for organizing! I just started running again this week, post-injury so, for me, this will be more about my personal improvement between now and August 2. While we’re not technically on lockdown at this point, we’ve been unable to find a venue willing to host a meet, so I’ll be in the B category. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s results – y’all stay healthy!
Good luck. Thanks for your support!
One question: how can the results be transmitted? Isn’t that set up yet?
Thanks for the answer!
Thank you, Pablo
Registration Deadline states Click Here to Register (registration closes @ 11:59PM Pacific Daylight Time on 17 July)
BUT . . . it also states on the website that today (July 15th) is the deadline.
Has it been extended?
Hello Sam, hope you and your loved ones are well and safe. Thank you for letting us know. Yes, the deadline is extended to midnight on 17 July.
Hello, if I was to throw shot put and video it and mark it accurately – and it went over the required All American distance standard for my age M55 over 12meters – would that qualify me for an All American Certificate after it is recorded on the virtual world wide meet website? Thanks, Craig
Hello Craig, hope you and your loved ones are well and safe. National Masters News administers the All-American program. They would need to answer your question.
Here are a few for the stupid question category.
1. Do I need to do all my events on the same day?
2. What does it mean that we “can perform an event once in the date period”? Does that mean we can’t practice? Or that we can’t time or measure our practices? Or that we can only submit one result?
Thanks for giving us something to train for. Please set up a comments page for after the competition, to collect feedback. I bet people will want to do another one.
You can perform your events on different days.
However, you cannot have multiple chances to perform, in competition mode, in one event. For me, I can throw the discus once, any time in the July to August 2 period to have that performance count for the event.
You can practice as much as you want and measure your practice performances.
Yes, we will be collecting feedback. Working on it!
Good Morning!
My tests are shot put and discus.
But as all athletics tracks are closed, I will perform my tests in an alternative terrain, as I do with the sector, I can only cross the circle on the ground. I send only one or do as in a competition I make six attempts and send the best brand. Thank you
Just you best throw. Regards.
Is there a “Submit” button for results?
Go to your name in status of entries. You can begin the submit process there
Sorry, entries closed on July 17, 2020
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!
GREETINGS FROM SERBIEN MASTER ATHLETIC !
STAY HEALTHY!
President SMA
Duska Lorbek Mandic!
Thanks!
Just want to say this: I think this is the coolest competition ever! Thank you to everyone who worked on it. You have given us a dream to pursue in a world that has become a boring nightmare.
Why don’t you allow registrations through the entire period? What about those of us that have just found out about this? What’s the harm in allowing registrations now?
Sorry, the event was advertised from early June. We choose to impose a deadline before the start of competition in keeping with normal procedures.
In the future we may revisit the idea of keeping the entries open longer.
Lieber Guy,
Wolfgang
Thanks you for your support
Can you submit results in multiple categories? I will be doing all events either ‘b’ or ‘c’ but I might have a track meet on the evening of aug 2nd ( cutting it close ,I know ) that would be category ‘a’ result.
Yes. One event could be A and another C
I did one 5K Race Walk last Saturday on a double 400-meter Wheel-Measured High School 400-meter track last Saturday July 25, 2020. When when I reported my time as a C-Category Virtual 5K Race Walk, I noticed under Action, I noticed it said “Request Change.” What does “Request Change” mean?
Does it mean I can return on next Saturday, August 1, and repeat 5K Race Walk with a timer and race Walk judge for B Category to improve my time and re-enter a new time for my Race Walk 5K in the B-
Category with a faster legal race walk form approved?
to be more specific, I have done most of my events in category c, but finally there is a track meet scheduled for aug 2nd which would be category a. If I had known, i would not have submitted the category c results yet. but with covid, every week , track meets are cancelling or starting again. So aug 2nd i will be doing some events that i had previously submitted cat c results, not knowing that a track meet would happen on the last day. but now i will have some cat ‘a’ results for events i already submitted.
Good Morning!
I need to send the video showing my pitch, to check the fouls, and also where the weight fell and the mark.
No video is required for this event
Dear Madam President, dear participants of this virtual challenge, dear organizers,
would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to all those involved who made this event an exceptional one in times of pandemic.
Even if we athletes cannot be optimally prepared, we succeeded in building up motivation and attracting many participants. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all sports fans around the world every success and hope that friendships will develop out of it, because sport connects people all over the world.
Wolfgang Geyer (M75)
Thank you very much for your comments Wolfgang. I agree with your sentiments. Danke!
I did the 5K Race Walk last Saturday on a double 400-meter Wheel-Measured High School 400-meter track last Saturday July 25, 2020. Then when I reported my time for a C-Category Virtual 5K Race Walk, I noticed under Action, I noticed it said “Request Change.”
What does “Request Change” mean? Does it mean I can return on next Saturday, August 1, and repeat 5K Race Walk with a timer and race Walk judge to try to improve the time and re-enter a new time for my Race Walk 5K If I run faster the second time?
Please advise and Thank you!
Bill
Bill:
The purpose of the “Request Change” is the method to use if you accidentally made an error entering your time, or some other aspect of your results needs changing.
IMPORTANT- RESPONSE NEEDED – July 27 – 2020
Finally trying to put together a very small event on a track on August 2nd. I thought there was an entry link to sign up and pay some fees. I can no longer locate this weblink. What’s the deal? Have entrees been closed? Please have someone respond directly to me at deortman@msn.com because if we’re being shut out and can’t enter, not much point in continuing.
Sorry David, registration closed on 17 July.
Good morning, so I will perform my test as if I have been in a competition, my friends will be like arbritos checking that there were no flaws and checking my mark, so I will just send my result, correct.
Guy, Can we do 5K Race Walk in both C and B categories?
Bill:
We specified that you only do an individual event once, like the 5K walk. So, no to two categories.
Can you submit your results (for b competition) on the master rankings page for 2020? And can you get all American award if so also?
Hello Gyna, hope all are well and safe. Only Category A (pre-organized meet run by officials ensuring that WMA rules are followed) performances are eligible for Rankings. Please check with National Masters News regarding All-American eligibility (http://nationalmastersnews.com/ncontact.htm).
Good evening please guide me … I ran 10km and 21.1 km ( road) my route was marked and I had club members being officials on the road.Am I to submit my results in category B or C? Regards Mariet Geyer ( South Africa)
Mariet, that’s a Category C. Well done!
Thank you.
Good night, August 2nd and the final date to take my test and also the date to send the result.
I want to submit the result of my friend Lorenzo Locati in the Throwing Pentathlon (3405p: ht 39.63, sp 12.02, dt 36.08, jt 28.78, wt 15.90) but I can not. It’s a A-Competition; it was in Essingen (GER) 20200801. Results are on the German website http://www.ladv.de.
Why I can not?
Please help me.
Thanks
Hello Pino, hope you are well, safe and had a great time participating. Sent you an email.
Good day
I am struggling to submit my results for group C. Please assist.
Thank you
Thanks for organizing this virtual meet. Its been fun training, practicing and a nice diversion from covid, and a chance to make up for missed meets. Have you thought of hosting another in Sept?
Hey Guy! I submitted results for M70 decathlon. One event qualifies for category A, the other nine for solid category B (stringent officiating by track buddies, organized “competitions”). However, I submitted two events (400m and 1500m) as category C to reflect that the 10 events were out of order and contested over five days. I presume that neither of the other two competitors will submit category C, but, if they do, please disqualify me. And, of course, it wasn’t a decathlon at all, so disqualify me on that basis if you like. The virtual meet was GREAT incentive to get back to the track, thanks again for doing this!!
Hi Richard, Category C is for those events that cannot be contested per the rules so your decathlon is appropriate to list! Glad this was motivating for you and hope you had a lot of fun participating.
Cool, thanks! Yes, my buddies and I had a blast. Just what we all needed. And the “honor Toronto” side story has been therapeutic, big time.
Good evening Guy Thank you for the virtual WORLDS.It motivated us.My question: will the Category C results be available for us to view? And if so , by when ? Regards Mariet
HI…. i have submitted results, but you have a DNS for my results?
Hello Zelda, hope you, your family and friends are well and safe. We submitted this question for you using the online form by clicking on one of your DNSes. That makes it easier to communicate and track things down. Please look for a response from support@mastersrankings.com in your email or spam folder.
Is there a final count on (1) total # athletes participating, (2) total # of countries participating, and (3) total # of events completed ? Also, do you know the total # of US athletes ? This was an awesome event – all your efforts organizing this are very appreciated in these challenging pandemic times. Thanks! Daniel
Hi. I competed in the virtual competition as well as my 84 year old father and my 35 year old daughter. I’m wondering if you would be interested in an article since we had three-generations competing.
That is awesome, Janean! We hope all of you had a lot of fun participating in the Challenge. We are helping with the article that will be in National Masters News and will probably create a post on this site. Please email information to support@mastersrankings.com.
Good evening all…maybe I missed a post but I would like to ask if we are getting medals/certificates for either our participation or our performance in this unique virtual WORLDS masters championship ? I can only speak for myself here if I say I would pay for the medal or certificate….please guide me in this regard.Regards Mariet Geyer
Sorry for my late reply. We will have Certificates / Diplomas once the final results are ready.
Hi Guy
This is good news thank you in advance … can we buy any medals ( maybe?)
Regards
Mariet Geyer
Just wondering why no verification for category B and also competitors who have never competed in a WMA meet before. Hope these guys can perform these marks in a certified officials competition when we can compete again. Just saying!!!!
Thanks Ernest, we are trying to monitor any outlier performances, but as you know we are relying on the honor system to a certain extent.
Goodmorning Guy
Still waiting to hear is there is a possibility to buy medals please? I know we will get certificates but any chance on buying medals?
Regards
Mariet
Is there a revised date for when the results will be finalised and added to the website?
Hello Guy,
Are the results of the WVMC ready? Did you take into consideration to sort them by category? You know how results can vary according to the surface we run on. Thanks again to all Master Rankings Team for making this event possible to honor the organization of Toronto 2020, and for letting all of us to take part of it.
Thank you for the wonderful tournament!
By the way, where can I download the Diploma?
OK! After August 26?
Thank you for your sensitive speech of Closing Ceremony!
Thanks for Final result service!
Thank you for possibility to take part!
I see on facebook there may be special awards to winners. Surely this is not a good idea, as a lot of winners could be C category and so not verifiable, possibly unfair to A and B category athletes, who can verify their times/ distance. Unless awards are for each category as well.
Hello Ian, hope you, your family and friends are well and safe. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. The awards announced have nothing to do with the performances. A clearer way to say it is: “Nice trophies will be sent to the winners of the special awards.”
👍
Whatever became our WMA Virtual 5K Race Walk awards? Final places etc?
They are listed on https://mastersrankings.com/2020-worldwide-virtual-masters-challenge/results/
You have to enter in the RW event you did.
Cheers -Liz Shepard, Racewalker
Hi All! This was fun!
Hi! Just wondering why my final result of my 400m in the Virtual rankings was totally different t from my actual time (1:03.75 (actual) vs 1:04.4)?
Hello Rachel, hope you, your family and friends are well and safe. Non-FAT 400m and long hurdles times were adjusted (rounded up to the nearest tenth then adding 0.24 seconds) so comparisons could be done across Categories.
Such fun and I loved that the times were held secret until the event was closed. Very professional!
I was wondering, I believe there was a mention of the diplomas being able to be downloaded. Will we be receiving an email how?
Again, thanks so much! I am inspired to keep working through my post COVID-19 lungs to compete!
Liz Shepard, Racewalker
Good day
I would like to ask when we can be downloading the diplomas because no matter what I do i get a message : athlete not found…
Thank you
Mariet Geyer
Hallo Zusammen,
Danke
Simone
Hi,
that is my problem, too.
I’m waitng since 26.08. to get my diplomas, but there is still no button or link to.
Anytime the message “You are not a member or Athlet not found”
Looking forward to hear this problem be fixed.
Greetings from Germany

Thanks a lot to all Master Rankings Team,
I really enjoyed this event, although I couldn´t perform better because I had planned to run my events the events the second week and take the first week as a preliminary times control. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned because the week before the inauguration date, my son who is 12yo, got a fever which got me worried because of the coronavirus, but he got well in just two days. On Sunday, the second day of this event, I started coughing and sneezing during the night, but I didn’t feel anything else.
On Monday I went to work because I was feeling fine, but on Friday I got a message that stated that Covid-19 came in various types, and the first one was gripal without fever. In the meantime I was doing my events as control times, thinking to improve them the following week. But, since I got the message and got worried for my family and friends, I decided to take the Covid test on Monday and came back positive, so I couldn´t come out and run because I was ordered to stay home for 15 days in a quarentine period.
Finally, I did my events with Covid-19 and perform was hindered a little bit because of it. But thanks God I could stay home and keep my family and friends safe.
Thanks again to all Master Rankings Team for organizing this Challenge.
