Age Grading & Combined Event Scoring

Age Grading is an adjustment for a performance (time, height or distance) based on age – the older you are, the bigger the adjustment. The adjustment, known as an Age Grade Factor, is multiplied by the performance to get an Age Graded Performance so all times, heights or distances for each event by athletes from 20 to over 100 years old can be compared to each other! The Age Graded Performance is the equivalent to what the athlete would have done when they were in their 20s.

Meet the Athletes

After many years of competing as a teenager in athletics in Germany (1974 - 1984), where she was a member of the Luesdorf-Ranzel (LueRa) Athletics Club * https://luera1959.de/leichtathletik/, Baerbel re-started athletics training again in 2007 and competitions in 2008. Her first coach in Australia at the Epping Athletics District Club (EDAC), Sydney, was decathlete Fred O'Connor. Baerbel is currently focussing on improving her jumps, esp. high jump, coached by Matthew Horsnell. Highlights include GOLD and BRONZE medals at the World Masters Games, held in Sydney in Oct 2009. She won the GOLD Medal in the W45 High Jump and the BRONZE Medal in the Outdoor Pentathlon, which consisted of the 80m hurdles sprint, high jump, shot put, javelin and 800m. In 2024 Baerbel set NSW Masters records in the High Jump (W55: 1.36m; W60: 1.30m) as well as Australian Indoor Records in the High Jump (W55: 1.32m) and Triple Jump (7.60m).
