In 1991 he received recognition in The Guinness Book of Records (1993-1995) for setting the World Record with four other climbers for climbing the highest point in each of the lower 48 contiguous states in the shortest time (30 days, 10 hours, 52 mins.) and he is currently the only individual who has ever climbed the highest point in each of the contiguous 48 states three times.
