4:25 for one mile, 54min for ten miles, 2:04 for 20 miles as a teenager. (My inspiration was my elder and more famous brother David, who was a Commonwealth Games triallist, ran close to 4 minutes for the mile, and was in the same Cambridge team as H J Elliott, the Aussie Olympic champion and record breaker).Then after a 40 year gap, I was persuaded to do a half marathon for charity: I won my age group, joined a club and now rarely miss a Masters challenge.
