Christine Dalgleish, CAN - W61

Hi there! I am Christine Dalgleish and I have been throwing things for three years after a hiatus of more than three decades! Yikes! That makes me sound old but I don’t feel old.... well, most days! I have always loved to compete but it’s mostly about trying to better my own bests. I was a track athlete when I was a teen, then arm wrestled in my late 30s, was western Canadian champion and came third in Canada one year. During that same year I was BC champ and decided to retire on top and uninjured! Then when I was about to turn 55 our track and field coordinator for zone 9, Dick Voneugen, told me about the 55+ BC Games and I went that year with no training and hardly any practice and zero technique! But I was hooked because it was incredible to throw all these implements with like minded women! The camaraderie is what will keep me coming back for as long as I can! This year - covid crazy 2020 - has been one of focus - on technique - and I am proud to say I was able to break the BC throws pentathlon record that was held since 2007 by the great Canadian throwing record holder Rose Hare who was throwing right alongside me when I broke the record! Such a wonderful experience! I was lucky enough to also break the BC weight throw record as well. So, as my dear friend and President of our Prince George Track & Field & Club,, Elena Thomas, said - now my goal is to best my own record! Yippee! So excited to see what 2021 brings!
